Lock Nut with nylon insert (Nyloc) these M6 x 10AF A2 Stainless Steel lock nuts are 10mm AF (across flats) the nylon insert deforms when first used so that the nylon insert grips the thread fast hence locking the nut on the thread. These type of lock nuts are generally good for vibration type appications.
It is vitally important to remember that nylon insert (nyloc) lock nuts are a single use lock nut and once fitted cannot be reused, not even on the same thread because the "locking" ability will have been lost when the insert was first deformed.
After use and removed these nuts should be discarded as a lock nut, they may be used with a "back-up" lock nut in a conventional lock nut confiruration however the extra depth often prevents this.
