Thermic Arc Slice Rods 7mm (1/4" Dia.) Insulated Type

These special ArcAir thermic slice rods with the insulated coating allow the additional use of your electric arc welding set (MMA) in addition to the oxygen normally used to achieve the exothermic reaction, working with both arc and oxygen greatly increase the operation speed - that said - even though the standard un-coated  rods work exceptionally quickly.

Being able to work with the MMA arc power in conjunction with oxygen becomes more important when less heat input into the workpiece is a key requirement.

The insulated coating along the length of the rod enables the use of the arc welding power source because the coating prevents premature arc ignition at the side of the rod ensuring the thermic reaction remains at the end of the lance, where required.  Without the insulation the side of the rod could arc against the workpiece, as the hole depth increases, hence why the insuation is important.

Working with the arc plus oxygen is required when it is important that less heat is put in to the work piece
