Gullco Kat Straight Line Cutting Tractor - Professional System

The KAT is unlike other tractor based cutting systems because the KAT is secured to the cutting rail so cannot fall off or be pulled off the track. 
Simple cutting tractors for occasional use rely on the cutting tractor weight and friction to be able to impart movement to the torch / cutting process whereas the KAT has a positive drive through a rack gear along the length of the entire track.  Being fixed to the track and with a positive drive system this enables the KAT to cut (weld) vertically as well as horizontally which opens up a complete new list of operating possibilities.  Depending on your application there are three separate speed ranges available, for oxy / fuel cutting the most popular speed range used is the middle speed range which provides for cutting speeds of 2.5 to 83cm per minute (1” to 33” IPM) the high top end speed allows for cutting thinner sheet with high speed machine cutting tips while achieving a "class 1" cut face while at the other end of the speed range thick billets may be cut 550mm thick again with a class 1 cut face which assumes that you have the correct torch, nozzle and gas supply system required.  All possibilities are available.
The torch and torch holding system are not included and need to be ordered as separate items.  There are many options available from oxy / fuel to plasma as well as welding torch holders with ocillation movement.

Standard ridged track will suit many applications, especially those repetitive cutting jobs where material may be moved in and out to suit. The standard track is available in 3m lengths and  1.2m lengths to which various types of feet may be added.  The number of feet required will increase for vertical use compared to normal horizontal use.
Any number of lengths of track may be joined together to form extended tracks / cutting.
With portable systems where the track is placed on top of the material to be cut then it may be better to make use of the deep section track as this provides the ability to support the tractor over the edge of the plate / sheet.
  
Deep section track with gear rack ensures continuous positive drive providing uniform speed control for consistent cut face finish.  Track lengths available are 3m long and 1.5m long.
 
The deep section track is mounted on aluminium channel which allows the track to be self supported over the end of the sheet steel to be cut allowing easy starting and finishing as tractor can “hang” over the plate edge. 
The track lengths will typically be fitted with wide feet for stability, a common foot option being those having angle bracket feet on the side nearest to the heat (cutting) combined with a switchable magnetic foot on the other side, away from the heat, which helps to ensure the track does not move or get pulled while cutting.  These features helps reduce potential scrap and reduce rework due to track movement while cutting (which can be a frequent problem on long cuts, being almost impossible to achieve with typical low cost tractor units).
The track lengths have interlocking ends to ensure they remain fixed together when they should be but may very quickly and easily be taken apart to allow the track to be moved – after the magnetic feet have been switch to the off position.
Making use of a shorter length of track will allow the Gullco Kat cutting tractor to be moved to the short length, locked into position, so it doesn’t roll off, then moved to the next cutting position.  The short length may then be coupled to the longer length for cutting once repositioned ready for cutting the next piece.
The Kat tractor unit  is securely fitted to the cutting track so cannot fall off or be pulled / knocked off the track.  Likewise the weight and drag from the hoses does not ordinarily affect the cutting performance – so long as the hoses are not snagged in a fixed position so they cannot move!
The Kat tractor has the power and ability to pull the hoses along as it cuts, the hose support ensures that the hoses do not pull the torch out of position in most cases.  The hoses may be moved while cutting without affecting the cut or lifting the machine off the track.
