Kemper 555K2 Oxy / Fuel Gas Brazing Set in Cylinder Stand - Includes Two Pressure Control Regulators
This Kemper gas set - 555K2 - plus the smaller 555C are both better quality than the OxyTurbo sets which look to be similar.
It is not just the overall build quality but it is the attention to the torch gas control valves which make this set so much better and easier to work with, being able to control the flame size accurately and consistently. The Kemper 555K2 gas set make use of two proper gas regulators which provides for improved flame control over the standard 555C gas set.
This Kemper Group oxy / LPG fuel brazing and small heating set makes use of freely available disposable oxygen canister with the M10 right hand connection, these canisters are more regularly available when compared to the OxyTurbo set or Rothemnberger set which uses special threads. Cylinder adaptors are available as an extra cost option, these adaptors allow the larger threaded gas canisters to be used, which means you will never be stuck even if you have to purchase the more expensive OEM branded gas canisters including Rothenberger and OxyTurbo.
The Kemper 555K2 oxy fuel gas set uses proper pressure control regulators, the LPG regulator has the larger 1" connection thread which allows the use of pure propane or pure propylene (yellow) disposable gas canisters which provide a better more stable heat output compared to the smaller threaded butane gas mixes.
Both the 555K2 and 555C gas sets include the Kemper torch with good quality control valves having metal knobs, these valves do not adjust when tipped or knocked. The set includes oxy / propane hoses which are 1.25 m long.
Two brazing or small heating nozzles, one size #0 and one size #1, there are also two larger sizes #2 and #3 = 100l/hr - available as extra cost options.
The canister stand accepts two standard disposable canisters, one oxygen and one fuel held in place by a butterfly plate and a wing nut at the back of the stand.
Each of the pressure control regulators have a purpose made non return valve fitted to the regulator outlet, designed so as to prevent the oxygen back feeding or likewise the fuel gas from back feeding into the oxygen canister. The construction of the outlet non return valves includes a dirt filter which helps to ensure the valves remain functional for as long as possible.
As with any gas equipment system which uses oxygen and fuel gas the non return valves are the first line of defence helping to prevent a flashback.
Note: These Kemper Group gas sets are not fitted with flashback arrestors.and there is no pretence that they are, as with some other supplier's sets.
The most important operation to maintain safety is to ensure correct opening and closing procedures are always used.
For a set with proper German manufactured FBA included you need to consider the Noz-Alls CWS Model "O" set.
Most of the American and Italian miniature gas sets on their packaging seem to promote flame temperatures which are fictitious - too high.
The small threaded fuel gas canisters are typically a mix of butane and propane, some may have propylene while some mixtures have very small quantities of hotter gases but these additions have very little effect when diluted out - the only benefit is they slightly reduce the oxygen consumption required - however the increased cost may be much greater than the benefit.

The oxygen to fuel gas ratio is the reason that only oxy / acetylene may be used for fusion welding mild steel (and other metals).
The need to saturate the other fuel gases with oxygen to burn them is the reason why they cannot be used for fusion welding.
