MIG Flow Meter 2-30 litre / min. @ 3,5 bar - Square Flow Tube
A better quality flow meter (or flowmeter if you prefer that version) has a dual scale flow tube which has an "Argon" scale on one face with a "CO2" scale on the second face. Both scales read from 2 through to 30 litres / minute.
The float used is a ball, as with most lower cost flowmeters, therefore when making a reading it is the widest part of the float which is the indicator, so the float diameter provides the reading on the tube. When using pure CO2 for MAG welding then read directly off the CO2 scale. When using mixed shielding gases the extra CO2 will only affect the float level marginally so use the Argon scale.
If you are looking to more precisely set your shielding gas flow rate or indeed save gas then this is the ideal addition to add to the outlet of your regulator.
Given that most regulators supplied with welding machines are "two gague" regs you will find that by adding a flow tube you will save money as the 'flow gauge' is not very accurate so can easily be flowing more than you think and essentially cost you money. Once the regulator is set to match the flowmeters calibrated pressure there is nothing more accurate than this 'ball in a tube', of course it is a little more complex that it sounds.
Once connected to the regulator you can adjust the flow by way of a needle valve located on the solid brass body.
The best regulator to fit the flowmeter to would be a pressure regulator so you may set the working pressure to 3,5 bar (when flowing gas) as this will be when the flowmeter reading is most accurate.
With this flowmeter we have a range of possible inlet connections available should you wish to mount the flowmeter on or close to the welder rather than on a regulator.

Outlet connection is G3/8 right hand with a cone to accept the hose nipple head.
inlet connections typically:-
G3/8 male with cone for hose nipple head (same as outlet)
G3/8 Female - loose nut and nipple head - screw to regulator outlet
