CWS 300Amp NL MMA Electrode Holder - Crocodile Style Jaws

This is a good quality 300 Amp crocodile type electrode holder - one of the most common and easy to use electrode holder types in use and this is usually the type of rod holder that would be supplied with your new MMA welder.
This CWS electrode holder is a positive upgrade to most crocodile type electrode holders that are generally supplied with entry level MMA sets. What makes this electrode holder particularly effective is the good rod gripping strength without the requirement for a very high spring force, which comes down to good design and means that it is easy to load and position your welding rods. You will see from the photos that the fixed jaw has deep rod holding grooves - 7 groove positions plus a flat very close to the fulcrum for the highest clamping strength in other positions.

The fixed lower jaw is manufactured from drop forged brass for high strength and good current carrying ability - the cable fitting aperture is 11.5mm diameter and would accept up to 90mm²  cables much larger than would be required for 300A on most lengths of leads for this power of electrode holder. The cable clamp has two hexagon grub screws to secure the power lead.  Being copper plated this provides improved power transfer.
The moveable clamping jaw is manufactured from drop forged steel onto which the "bakalite" plastic jaw lever has been moulded, the steel jaw provides the high clamping force even when hot and will not distort.

The moulded plastic grip has a soft feel rubber insert for good grip in a gloved hand.
The grip diameter is 28.5mm x 120mm long
Overall length is 240mm

Some people prefer the the "crocodile" type of electrode holder whilst others opt for the twist type or the Myking style electrode holders, the good quality crocodile holder as well as our twist and Myking style holders should generally last longer than the low cost rod holders.
