A key advantage is the ability for the TC180W Digital mask to automatically set the correct dark shade level no matter what power or arc process you are using, in conjunction with the clear state shade #3 which will auto darken to a shade level based on the power of the arc, this ability provides you with the ability to see your work to ensure it is never too dark. 

The advanced  assistance this welding mask provides may be tuned to your specific requirements because you may choose to adjust the auto darkening shade by plus 2 DIN shade levels through to minus 2 DIN shade levels so that the mask provides you with the level of comfort that you desire and prefer. The "centre point" adjustment may be made by 0.1 of a DIN shade which enables you to set the most comfortable for your eyes and the job in hand.  i.e. the mask will provide 20 different starting points for the auto darkening setting.
 
The TC180W having such a wide field of view with the clear state of DIN shade 3 enables you to continue to wear your TC180W Digital mask for secondary operations with no need to lift the welding mask, obviously when grinding you do not wish for the mask to auto darken so to prevent the darkening there is a large blue button on the left side of the mask which it is possible to push with a gloved hand, enabling the auto darkening feature to toggle on and off.  The mask display will also show "GRIND"  and shade 3 in the diplay plus a small red LED flashes which you will see when you look down.  This helps to ensure you flick back to welding before striking up your arc.

If you are like me and need to wear glasses the NEW TC180W Digital mask includes a wire frame clip which may be put in place so as to be able to hold a dioptre lens in position allowing the dioptre to be clamped at the height you desire, generally I fit to the lower edge of the ADF which is good for welding plus allows for you to look over the top of the dioptre for normal vision when you finish welding.
 
Seven arc sensors ensure the TC180W Digital mask doesn’t get “caught out” by odd light situations the 7 sensors improve the ability for the mask to darken correctly.
The LED light has its own sensors to enable the light to function automatically.

 Secondary features are the ability to have fully automatic return to light state as well as the gradual return to light plus of course the automatic features may be turned off and selected manually through your own choice.  Using the 7 arc sensors the lens sensitivity may be measured and set by the mask for the area you are working in at the time - the mask will measure and range through the light sensitivity and automatically set the sensitivity at that point.  The "auto" sensitivity must be re meausered each time you move your work area because the light levels will alter.
